Right Kind of Phrase
Jason Mraz is all that and then some. His concert last night was simply amazing. His voice is just incredible- he could sing me the alphabet and I’d still be swooning and giggling like a little schoolgirl.
Wit, charm and talent all wrapped up in one uber cute package. Hee.
*ahem*
The opening act was a chick called Sandrine, a wannabe Tori Amos. It was quite possibly the most painful thing I’ve ever had to sit through. She had a decent enough voice but she was just screeching like a cat in heat. All kinds of bad. If you see her single in the music stores back away slowly, unless of course you like subjecting your ears to that kind of torture. She was followed by Holly Throsby, who was much easier on the ears. A more laid back, folksy/rock chick. Her guitarist was a bit of a tool though.
Jason came on shortly after, with his bandmates Toca and Ian. I was hoping for his whole band to be with him (his drummer is very nice eye candy indeed, heh) but they weren’t, still the three of them gave us one fantabulous show. He started off with the funky Curbside Prophet (whose opening line still cracks me up-perhaps I should get my mind out of the gutter), followed by I’ll Do Anything and On Love, In Sadness. He threw in some of his non-Waiting for My Rocket to Come songs such as Right Kind of Phrase and So Unusual. I was hoping to hear After an Afternoon or Sleeping to Dream but it was not to be, I guess I’m going to have to yell out louder next time. Or perhaps throw something up on stage like some members of the audience did.
Sleep All Day and the beautiful encore of The Boy’s Gone and You and I Both were other standout moments. Nothing compares to seeing him live, the improv’s and quirky twists to his songs add to the entertainment value of his shows.
The setlist before I forget:

The Boy's Gone
Dream Life Of Rand McNally
You & I Both
Some others have written about the concert in their blogs, check them out: Mey (dude, next time we’ll get one of those guitar picks and we’ll help Christine make the shirt swapping thing happen…shirtless Mraz…mmm…nice), Joel (glad you liked it after all my pimping) and Matt (nice meeting you and that huge ass camera of yours!)
I can’t wait til he comes back again in October, and if he’s touring with who he’s rumoured to be touring with then BRING IT ON!! (And no, I’m not publicly divulging who til it’s confirmed cause I don't want to jinx it).

One of our clients is giving our team VIP tickets and backstage passes to the Shaggy concert tomorrow night.
Bwhahaha.
None of us even like Shaggy but we're going along anyway - you can't beat free.
