That girl

Am I the only one who thinks that Miranda Murphy is trying too hard to channel Mandy Moore and Delta Goodrem in the way she performs? She's a poor man's Mandy in my opinion. I think she's gorgeous and has a nice voice, but Miranda honey, if you can't dance don't attempt to dance in your debut single. Especially when you try to dance like Britney and Christina who both own your ass when it comes to shaking booty. You look really bad. Mandy learnt her lesson in Candy, I think you should follow her lead and just stand there and look pretty.

Meet Herman

It doesn’t get much sweeter than this.

R: What is that?!
M: He’s supposed to look after you when you’re sick

Aww. He even has a little bandage with a red cross on his leg. So cute.

Now I don’t know where to put him, he takes up too much room on my bed.

On another note, what would you give a 6 year old girl for her birthday?

So Beautiful

My Mark was lucky enough to win tix to see Pete Murray's Max Sessions at the Studio in the Opera House. It was such an intimate performance, probably only around 80 people there - the 25 winners (plus partners) and a handful of Sony staff. People were allowed to sit around the stage on comfy cushions right under the band's noses. It was awesome.

And I have to say that Pete Murray is so sexy. I never really thought much about him before but up close, phwoar! Hottie to the nth degree, hee. And his voice *sighs* I think he's one of the few guys with guitars out there who actually has a decent voice and doesn't need to mumble or slur his words to sound good.

But someone please get Pete new shoes, I couldn't stop staring at the holes in the shoes he was wearing during the performance. The rest of the band were all wearing nice shoes, and for a man whose album has gone platinum 4 times I'm sure he could afford a new pair.

Hillsong

Me and Mark Mark is out here for that Hillsong Conference that was held last week and invited me along to the final rally on Friday night.

It was...interesting. I guess as a Catholic I'm used to more subdued and solemn celebrations, and seeing the Sydney Superdome filled with 21,000 Christians praising God, jumping up and down and 'woot wooting' to some songs was something I wasn't used to. But it was amazing to see so many people with such strong faith and I'm glad I went along for the experience.

It was also cool to finally meet Mark after reading his blog for so long. Have a safe trip back home dude!

Hmm...

Contrary to many of the truths I hold dear in life, I sincerely believe that men are better equipped to be healthy individuals because they concentrate on achieving in a few key areas, and don’t worry about fulfilling every fantasy, or meeting every expectation. The cliché is that men are easy to please- and compared to us females, they very well are.

Give a guy a good job, a good mate or two, beer, some fancy electronics, and the occasional access to a naked woman and he will be utterly content…I realise the specifics of this formula varies a bit, but the principle as a whole remains in tact.

Compare that to what the modern woman has come to believe she needs to have in order to be content- the ideal partner, the perfect figure, the ever-expanding wardrobe, the luxurious home, the high-paying corporate career that conveniently leaves time for a diverse social life and eventually, the raising of wonderful children (or the funds to afford a full-time nanny).

It’s societal expectations, it’s the mantra the modern woman has internalised. It’s enough to make you want to long for the 1950s. Well, almost. But still, it was a time when models could be voluptuous and no one minded, when young girls could look to their mothers and grandmothers as relevant role models, not relics of a different era. As women we’re expected to be superhuman. You didn’t have to ‘have it all’ to be fulfilled, or at least ‘having it all’ was a much narrower, much more attainable set of ideals- namely a loving husband, good children, a nice home and the support of friends and family. At least that was how the deal was supposed to operate. Many women obviously felt it was the biggest con going or they never would have gone to all the hassle of rebelling, protesting, getting jobs and burning perfectly good lingerie.

Apart from the ability to pee standing up and not having to go through the 350 (give or take a couple) periods I’m expected to have in my lifetime, I wonder if life would be easier, and more fulfilling, if I was a guy.
