Eighteen

When I see you smile
It feels like I'm falling
It's not for anybody else to know
The way your face could light the bitter dark of every street
In every town I'll ever go
It's not for anybody else to know
For anybody else to know

When I See You Smile - Bic Runga

Lasting peace?

Poor Yasser Arafat, the last thing the fragile peace process in the Arab-Israeli conflict needs right now is the loss of Arafat. With no clear successor in sight it could lead to a breakdown of the whole Palestinian plight for statehood as the various factions vie for power.

I studied the Arab-Israeli conflict in 3 Unit Modern History for my HSC and ever since I've followed the events in the region with close interest - it's one of the only things I go out of my way reading when I read the papers or view news sites. I find it quite fascinating and sad at the same time, fascinating because of the history behind the conflict and sad because of the humanity of it all. I couldn't imagine growing up in a society like that and having to deal with such hatred and loathing based on your nationality and religion.

Arafat's sickness coupled with Ariel Sharon's unilateral disengagement plan, which calls for a complete withdrawal from Gaza and pullout from West Bank settlements next year (spliting the Likud party), leaves the situation in the region quite unstable for both parties. I for one hope that Sharon's recent actions don't lead to another Yitzhak Rabin incident; we don’t need another political assassination by a young fanatic.

Sweet to the max

I've said it time, and time and time again that this has to be the most swoon-worthy music video. I stumbled across it again this week and can't stop watching it.

It's just so, so.....awwwwwwww. The way he sings to her on the bed, that kills me! And in the bubble bath...oh my...

Watching this video makes me want to have my way with my boyfriend. (Ok, you didn't really need to know that but you know how much I like sharing).

Ner ner...

I have the new Jimmy Eat World cd, Futures, and you don't. Ha! I'm excited because they belong to my Holy Trinity of Bands (in the company of Counting Crows and Ben Folds Five), and it's been a long time since they've released anything new.

I like how they've moved away from the commerical, radio-punk of Bleed American and gone back to their more traditional sound. It's not as good as the gorgeous Clarity but still good ear candy.

*Basks in the afterglow of Futures love*

(Man, what a depressing song, the guitar solo is pretty kick ass though)

Answer me this #12

When guys go to the toilet to do a number 1 and all the urinals are taken, do they wait in a line or do they go into a stall? And if they go into a stall do they close the door or just leave it open?

Yes, I know I'm weird but I'm curious.

Ear Candy: "Sad Songs" -- Matt Nathanson
(I've pimped him before but I'm going to do it again because I think he's that good. Another guy with a guitar but his songs are beautiful, check out his CD Beneath these Fireworks. Amazon has put up previews to listen to)

Haha

Am I the only one not suprised about Idol?

I mean c'mon, you didn't honestly think that the Australian public would really want Ricki Lee to be the winner? She's too much of a bogan. No one wants to listen to a poor man's version of Beyonce when they can listen to classier stuff by people like Delta. Ricki Lee has a great voice but it obviously wasn't enough to win over the viewers.

The Spin Starts Here has the snarkiest recaps of the show, it's great. Heh. Go read.

Good Food Month

I'm going to make an effort to go and try as many of the Sugar Hits as I can this month.

Riss = Piggy

We went to the Four Season's on Friday night to try their Sugar Hit offering and it was divineeee. Mini Vittoria tiramisu, frozen nougat parfait and chocolate tarte with a glass of Margan Hunter Valley Botrytis Semillon dessert wine. *drools*

So yeah, if anyone needs a pigging out partner I'm more than happy to join you.

Weekend Entrails

I moved on the weekend, and all I have to say it moving is a bitch. Especially if you're moving from a place that you've lived in since you were 6.

I also came across a whole heap of my old photo albums and I nearly peed my pants laught at how chubby I was as a baby. I know most baby's are chubby but you haven't seen chubby til you've seen my baby pictures. I looked like a little pig with spikey black hair.

Wimbeldon is a cute movie, not nearly as spectacular as Love Actually but swoon-worthy enough to fork out the cash to see. And any movie that plays 'This Year's Love' is decent enough in my books. Awww. So. Freaking. SWEET.

Poor Roosters. While I'm a Sharkies girl through and through (I know, I know, the boys still haven't won a Premiership but living in The Shire makes you a loyal supporter), I was hoping the Roosters would kick the Dogs ass but that was not to be. Oh well, at least we got to perv on Craig Wing's ass during the match in his sexy shorts. Hee.

Britney's new music video for her latest single My Perogative (a remake of Bobby Brown's 80's hit )is HOT! Phwoar! For all her skankiness you've got to admire how good she looks in lingerie. The song is also quite fun to dance to, hopefully they'll play it at dance classes at Sydney Dance Company.

"I'm Bozo the Bush", that scene from Sex and the City hilarious. I can't believe the show is going to be over in 4 episodes. *sobs*

I finally get my Blackberry tomorrow. Another new gadget courtesy of work, now I can geek it up to the max on the train in the morning. Oh yeah! I'm such a nerd. However I don't like this always available aspect that comes with having a Blackberry, the fact that I am contactable via my work email and mobile 24 hours a day is not a good thing.
